چکیده
Background The association of posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) and severe preeclampsia/eclampsia has been established but the frequency is uncertain. Objectives To determine PRES in preeclampsia or eclampsia. Methods We searched published articles PubMed, Cochrane library, Embase, CINAHL from 1990 to 2020. included that reported on six more cases with eclampsia who underwent neuroimaging during pregnancy up 6 weeks postpartum. Results identified 29 studies presenting data 1519 women preeclampsia. Among 342 had neuroimaging, 176 (51.4%) were diagnosed PRES. Of 121 preeclampsia, 24 (19.8%) pooled maternal death rate was 5.3% (21/395). Conclusion commonly eclampsia/ role especially requires re-evaluation as further management often dictated by this finding.

PRES is a cliniconeuroradiologic entity in which the patient presents with headache, altered mentation, seizures, cortical blindness, and rarely focal neurologic signs. On imaging in majority of cases, characteristic changes suggestive of edema are noted in the posterior irrigation area of the brain. One of the differential diagnoses of PRES in pregnancy and postpartum period is cortical venous...

Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is a rare clinico-neuroradiologic condition, not commonly reported in the literature. PRES is an uncommon complication of severe preeclampsia/eclampsia. We report the management of one patient with postpartum preeclampsia as an association of HELLP syndrome presenting with status-epileptics. Early diagnosis along with timely supportive therapy...

We report here a 27 year-old lady three weeks postpartum, presenting with posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome. She was treated successfully with antihypertensives and showed dramatic improvement...

Encephalopathy due to reversible cerebral edema is an important cause of neurologic morbidity accompanying many disorders. Although controversy remains concerning the pathophysiologic trigger, the mechanism of this disorder ultimately depends on failure of the blood-brain barrier to maintain the compartmentalization of intravascular fluid. This failure of the blood-brain barrier depends primari...
